Company Profile

Mary Kate McKenna Photography is a full-time wedding and lifestyle photography studio serving the DC Metro area since 2005.  The studio is located in Historic Downtown Frederick, Maryland.

Mary Kate is an award-winning member of the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WJPA), and has had her work published in numerous wedding magazines, as well as in The Washington Post and Washington Post Magazine.  In 2011, Mary Kate was awarded “Photographer of the Year” by the American Advertising Federation’s Greater Frederick Chapter.

Giving back to the community is at the heart of Mary Kate McKenna Photography.  She is  a volunteer photographer for Operation Love:ReUnited, Inspiration Through Art, Kids Are Heroes, Dodging Diabetes as well as several other organizations.

Using photography as a tool to help others has become a large part of the business model. Projects include the documentation of the plight of AIDS orphans in Zambia, the struggle for land reform in Brazil, and the life of those who live under the totalitarian regime in Burma.  Mary Kate hopes to expand more into photojournalism in the future in order to bring to light the many situations that are not given ample coverage in the media.
